| Description |
| Rounded square type of tsuba with a design known as basket weave. The surface of the tsuba is carved very nicely to imitate the texture and pattern of an old basket. The raised rim has gold inlay design known as kikusui or chrysanthemum floating in the river. This poetic design is the family crest of the famous Bushi Kusonogi Masashige, and is also used by the Minatogawa Shrine blades during WW2. Although this tsuba resembles a Higo tsuba in a few ways, it is most likely by the Shoami School as the hitsu have a shape particular to that of the Shoami kei. In nice condition. |
